Thin-Walled Tube Crush

An aluminium tube is crushed against a rigid wall by prescribed end-shortening and folds progressively. Colour is membrane strain intensity; plastic hinges form where the folds localise.

Q4 crash shells (Belytschko–Tsay with hourglass control) with J2 plasticity — the fold pattern is the verification: progressive buckling with the right hinge spacing means the shell membrane/bending split and the plasticity update agree. Regenerate with just website-demos crush.
