Arch Snap-Through

A shallow steel arch is driven down at the crown until it snaps through to the inverted equilibrium. Colour is membrane strain intensity; the elements are corotational shells with geometric nonlinearity.

Snap-through is the canonical geometric-nonlinearity test: the solver must track the equilibrium path past the limit point instead of diverging. Regenerate the film with just website-demos arch.

Interactive 3D — not a film

The Structure Lab runs the same shell/FEM family live: orbit the bracket and cylinder results in 3D, or keep flat sections in 2D. Drive it yourself: drag to orbit, Shift+drag / middle-drag / right-drag to pan, scroll to zoom, double-click to fit, click the surface to inspect a cell — then use Fullscreen 3D in the demo to fill the screen. Flat sheets stay in the undistorted 2D view; volumetric results open in the orbitable 3D scene. Requires WebGPU over HTTPS or localhost.
